Cruisin the Coolstores October 2008
We were excited! It's October and we've left the winter months behind, daylight saving has just kicked in and we had just enjoyed some perfect spring weather over the weekend. All looked in order for another great Coolstore Cruise night. Yeah right! With showers forecast, we expected only the most dedicated of cruisers to roll in, but they're a hardy bunch in Melbourne. Street Rods & Corvettes without roofs were amongst the 130 plus cars that rolled in, and they were rewarded with many first time cars to check out. Some were fresh out of the garages and quite a few were fresh off a boat. The rain stayed away long enough for us to get through our presentation at 7:30pm.
This kicked off with our Treasurer, Ron Mills presenting a $500 donation to John Crossin from the Variety Club. John had his Variety Bash car on hand that is used to help the Variety Club raise over $1 million each year.
Raelene Leggo kept all the gals present up to speed with the longgggg list of lunches & social activities of the Pink Slips. These girls are having way too much fun!!!
We then announced the latest winner of the Best Presented award. A gleaming '67 resale Red Mustang Coupe won owner Gary Watkins from Frankston a complete range of car care products. Congratulations Gary. We'll be looking for another winner next month so get polishing! Entrant's door prizes were soon dispensed. And yes, the slab went off the table first to keep it's unbroken record in tact! Then it started to rain and something resembling a Le Mans start took place. See yo'all next month on Melbourne Cup day. Hope you back the winner.
