Cruise Night - October 2012
We may
missed out on an extra hour of sunlight with daylight saving starting
next
weekend, but experienced fine weather and being held during school
holidays,
had lots of family groups and kids enjoying another Peninsula Cruise
night. We
also had lots of cars. Correction, make that lots of NICE cars! Just a
shade
under 300 pre ’75 chrome bumpers, muscle cars and street rods rolled
into the
car park. The café was again busy and the BBQ in the car park was well
patronized. The ice cream van on the other side of the display area
seemed to
be busy as well. The BBQ and ice cream van will be regulars over the
coming
summer months.
After
checking the cars, catching up with friends and grabbing some food,
7:00pm came
around quickly and it was presentation time.
First up
was the night’s Best Presented award.
The LGC
crew selected the first Best Presented award for this
summer.
Lucky winner of a $200 worth of car care products was Sam’s 1967
Chevy II
Nova SS. Sam’s Grenada Gold Nova with matching interior is equipped
with a
highly detailed 327CI under the hood. It’s a great looking ride and was
beautifully prepared for its outing, deserving its selection against
lots of
competition for this night’s award. Congratulations Sam.
Next up was
a draw to find the night’s lucky LGC Cruiser. Recent subscriber, Tom,
who took
out his subscription at last month’s cruise night, collected a crisp
$100 note
when his name was drawn.
Real Car
Guys Award
Bill
Duyvestyn took the microphone and introduced out latest inductees of
the Real
Car Guy award. In this case it a joint award as Brian and Cheryl
McCorkell are husband
and wife. Brian and Cheryl are very worthy winners of this ward. They a
can be
regularly found at car events all over the country. Their unique ‘hot
rodded’
truck with a full length trailer hauls their ‘A’ model street rod
roadster and
provides their accommodation when travelling. The street rod, usually
with
Cheryl driving, will be seen cruisin’ the particular event’s roads or
cruise
track, running the go whoa or stirring up dust in motorkana events. You
won’t
find it parked with the motor off too often! Brian and Cheryl have been
attending LGC events for many years and it was great to able to
recognize their
contribution to our favourite hobby.
Entrant’s
Prize Draw.
Lastly, it
was time to find some winners for the three ACDelco car care packs. It
took a
while to find winners as many early arrivals had left. But we
persevered and
some had three smiling winners. Thanks again to the good folks at
ACDelco for
making these prizes available. LGC Cruisers don’t forget the great
discounts
available to you on the extensive ACDelco product range when purchasing
these
at Preston Motors trade warehouse locations.
Another
good night out for all those that cruised in. For those that missed it,
here’s
a few photos to wet you appetite to make it next month.
