 
Melbourne Cup Carnival & Cruise Night - November 2017
With the 1st Tuesday of November always falling on Melbourne Cup Day we again expanded the Cruise Night to a Cup themed event. Patrons for the luncheon entered the Sober Mule ‘Marquee’ to be greeted by a tasty variety of finger food. After some mingling and a few refreshments, the Sober Mule team presented a very nice buffet for all to enjoy. The Cup sweeps were soon sold out and around 2pm, it was time to start up the Cup Calcutta. Simon did a great job auctioning off all the runners with the pool total just shy of $1200. There was enough time before the horses jumped out for the Cup for the Pink Slips to host the day’s Fashions on the Field. The ladies really frocked up this year and Angela won the day against stiff competition. Thanks to Sam for the prize voucher. Time for the running of the Cup. Lots of cheering and the ‘owners’ of the first 3 horses in the Calcutta were very happy to collect their winnings. Lunch wrapped up with deserts and tea coffee. Our thanks to Warren and his crew at the Sober Mule for providing us with a very enjoyable lunch.
Live entertainment from the Dirty Stop Outs kicked off on the Sober Mule forecourt after the Cup Carnival wound up, entertaining the growing crowd as the cars cruised in. It was soon time for the Cruiser prize draw and the entrant’s gate raffle. For Cruisers to win, we had a digital dash camera provided by the Homemaker Centre’s Goodguy’s store, along with the very popular $100 cash and Chev’s Auto Repairs Dyno Tune Voucher. Didn’t take too long to find happy winners. The gate raffle goody bags that included a range of ACDelco products also found new homes.
Another Cup day, another fun day with friends & favourite cars.
