Peninsula Cruise Night - February 2010
All the ingredients were there for another fun night of cruisin at the February Cruise Night. A warm clear evening and the promise of some good food to satisfy the hunger pangs from the BBQ or the Sober Mule Café suggested we’d have a large turnout of cars and when over 450 cars did cruise in, the cruise night was in full swing. Members of the Gippsland Historical Auto Club who cruised up from Leongatha in convoy got to check out lots of new cars with a great selection of Australian cars. Some very nice early Holdens from the ‘50’s & ‘60’s, GT Falcons, Fairlanes, Toranas and Monaros. And of course there were plenty of street rods and American muscle to keep everyone contented.
Peninsula Lifestyle Centre’s owners, Mirvac, provided some entertainment while Cathy Russo hosted a fashion show for the ladies in the Café’s forecourt. Our thanks the Clare and Cathy for helping make the cruise night even more enjoyable this month.
Craig Mc Cluskey bought his very fresh [registered earlier that morning] 1967 Chevelle Malibu along for its first outing and picked up the Best Presented award. With a candy apple lacquer applied over black, Craig’s new wheels stood out from the many cars that challenged for this award. Selecting only one winner each event is getting tougher! Craig went home with a bucket filled with car care products to keep the Chevelle in great shape.
At 7:30pm, we managed to find happy winners for packs of ACDelco products, along with a very pleased winner of the first $100 gift voucher from our newest sponsor, Bayside Landscaping Supplies located just around the corner in Racecourse Rd Mornington. They’ll be providing a $100 voucher at each of our cruise nights so please consider them when next needing anything for the garden. The owners are keen car enthusiasts so they’ll happily talk ‘chrome bumper’ as well as landscaping when you call by.
Seemed a pity that it all had to end but it’ll be back on the 1st Tuesday of next month. Here are some photos from Graeme and Chris to tide you over. |
