Autumn Cruise to Albury & Beechworth
Again the weather was predicted to be pretty ordinary from a car cruisin point of view, although we lucked out in the end with a dry cruise to Albury on Saturday morning and a dry run home Sunday afternoon.
We had 26 entrants cruise in convoy from Kalkallo to Albury's Kinross Woolshed for a well deserved hearty lunch. After lunch, some cruisers visited the Ettamogha Pub just a few minutes up the road while others drifted back into Albury to find their accommodation. Dinner was at the Commercial Club's Bistro with more food than should rightfully be consumed in one sitting. But plenty gave it their best shot! The Club provided a live country rock band from Melbourne so at least most were able to work a little dinner off on the dance floor.
Sunday morning arrived after the predicted rain storm passed through in the middle of the night. Fortunately it was gone by the time we cruised over to Beechworth for the local club's 'Drive Back in Time'. The old Cranks club has sponsors pick trophy winners and the LGC cruise entrants carried off most of the silverware. Congratulations to Shelley, David, Peter, Bob and Warwick's brother who tagged on the cruise in Wangaratta.
There were a couple of hard luck stories though. Bruno had a damaged front suspension on his '57 Chev that fortunately was repaired by Sunday morning thanks to Trevor. And Pauline & Lenny had a driveshaft problem on the way home and had to overnight at Ron & Cheryl's place in Alexandra waiting for the flat top ride Monday. All's well that ends well. A big weekend of cruising but enjoyed by all who came along.
