11th Mid Winter Cruise 2016
Hosting a cruise in the middle of winter has its risks. While our favourite cars get wet often from being washed they don’t seem to like water when it falls from the heavens and don’t venture out when the weather man talks about rain and cold winds.
Well, the 70 entrants that did take the risk with the rain word all reported an enjoyable day out at this year’s Mid Winter Cruise. The observation quiz had entrants driving through the variety of scenery the Mornington Peninsula is renowned for. We even had one perfect score so congratulations to Peter and his ‘navigator’.
Entrants finished the cruise in Rye, parked and were soon enjoying the warmth and hospitality provided by the Rye Hotel.
Entrants drifted into the Hotel’s function at 2pm for the various prize draws. With John & Juanita and Simon & Leanne only 1 point off a perfect score in the quiz, they joined with Peter to select their prize choice. All other entries then went into a bin for lots of consolation prize draws.
Then it was the children who entered the colouring in contest turn to be awarded with prizes for their efforts.
Lastly, it was LGC Cruiser draw time and because we like to kick the new Cruiser subscription year off with a little extra, we had two Cruiser prizes up for grabs, both a $100 cash + a $250 voucher from Tyres & More in Mornington. First winner was Ron with Cruiser #1070. Second out was Cruiser #107, Gary from Hoppers Crossing. What are the odds of this number combination coming out?
With the forecast rain appearing over the Bay, it was time to quickly wrap up and head for home.
Yes we lucked out that the predicted wintery weather held off but we also proved again that you can have an enjoyable day out cruising even in the middle of winter. Thanks to all those who came along.
