Foreshore Rockfest 2016

 The inaugural Foreshore RockFest has been and gone and it seems from the responses and feedback, it was enjoyed by the vast majority that attended one or many of the events hosted over the weekend. The festival kicked off with a Beach Party Dance in the Sea Scouts Hall right on the foreshore. To find out all about the non car based activities go to www.foreshorerockfest.com.au

Let’s Go Cruisin had joined the festival committee initiated by the Rosebud Chamber of Commerce to host all the car events. We started off on a ‘coldish’ Saturday morning with registration for a Texas Hold’em Poker Cruise. The entrants were entertained by street performers until the cruise departed mid morning. A short cruise around the southern peninsula had entrants back to the Rye Hotel for lunch with 3 cards ready for the remaining 2 cards to be ‘flopped’. Bruno picked up the cash with his 3 of a kind hand. Then it was back to Rosebud for other festival activities.

Sunday held promise for better weather and apart from a brief ‘coastal drizzle’ early, the day improved until it was just about perfect. Over 200 cars cruised in to the show on Rosebud’s Village Green and there were plenty more cruisin around the area. We also had a number of Vintage Caravan enthusiasts join in with a great display that bought back memories of holidays growing up. DJ Antony and the Jump Devils along with the Vintage & Pin Up competition in the adjacent Memorial Hall provided entertainment when not checking out the cars and caravans. It was all too soon for the awards. We don’t normally do awards at our events but being that Rockfest is something special, we established something a bit different by judging 6 cars and 1 caravan based on how well they represented a style of vehicle or era prior to the ‘70’s. Winners received a large drum of Meguiar’s finest car care products along with a unique LP record especially produced to record their win! The 7 award winners then drew a card to win the ‘cherry on the top’, a solid silver 1959 Cadillac custom carved piece of jewellery by Roger Thomas the Mornington based jeweller. Gayle Bromich, who won the Fab ‘50’s award with her 1956 Ford Victoria drew the winning card. If you want to see how happy she was winning the Caddy, check out the photos below. RockFest wrapped up with the Programme raffle draw and Hayley was present to collect the $1000 first prize + the $500 bonus for being at the draw.

So Foreshore Rockfest rushed into Rosebud on Friday, rocked the town for the weekend and cruised on out until next year. We had a blast hosting it, hopefully you enjoyed being part of it too.
