Lots of new stuff; name change to Muscle Car Madness - less of a mouthful and now sounds like a movie company MCM, wooohoo! 21st will obviously be the year of the yard glass so again will be a four- day event starting Thurs Jan 20th and yes this does mean the 21st party on Fri 21st. Ryan Ford, editor of Chopped magazine has confirmed he will be there. He’s one of the hottest pin stripers in the world at present. Entries should be out end of July.

January 29 2011 Hibiscus Rodders Beach Festival. Hibiscus Rodders are hosting this event to promote hot rodding and Orewa is the perfect venue for a fabulous day at the beach with cars, music and entertainment. Gates open 8.30am at the Western Reserve. Breakfast available at 8.30am hosted by Orewa Youth Club. Hibiscus Cruise Parade starts 10.30am followed by a car Show at the Orewa Reserve with family entertainment: Rock ‘n roll dancing, live band/DJ, stalls with merchandise, amusement rides, prizegiving at 3.30pm. Car entry:  $10 per car. (all pre-1975 cars or any of American origin) The first 400 cars through the gates receive gift packs! Bike entry: Gold coin. Cruise back via Matamata, 6pm gates open at Polo grounds, drive-in movie 8.30pm, non-registered movie entry $25 per car. Sunday: hot rods and classic cars, kids entertainment, rides and simulator, monster truck, race cars, big rigs and swapmeet Entry $5 per car. Camping available at the Rec Grounds. Registrations are building as is the excitement for the first ever Americarna Hutt City.  There are planned cruises to Southwards Museum where a limited number of people will get the opportunity to view the restoration workshops.  Purchase the delicious American style lunch for $13 per person and relax in the beautiful park like surroundings.  Friday’s cruise takes the event to Masterton where the festivities being planned will be well worth experiencing.  The enthusiasm of local bars and restaurants that line Jackson Street will ensure the Friday night cruise will also be spectacular sight.  On Saturday the Country Fair will provide a host of entertainment for all age groups.  This will be followed by the official wind down party for entrants where the entertainment booked is first class and an act not to be missed ..... You will all be aware by now of the serious damage to inflict Stadium Southland during the recent snow storm that hit Invercargill. We’d just like to reassure you that Americarna Invercargill will still be business as usual minus the availability of some of the structures within this great facility. You know we are a very resourceful bunch here at AmeriCARna, having to pull last minute weather plans out of the hat is something we are used to and it hasn’t stopped us from being successful to date and Mother Nature sure isn’t going to win this one!!
Due to the unavailability of the stadium the following changes have been made after discussions with ICC and Stadium Southland.
• Registration and Merchandise will now be held at The Bill Richardson Truck Museum
• Our Thursday Movie night will now be held at the Civic Theatre
• The Country Fair will still be held at Stadium Southland where the velodrome and surrounding buildings will be utilised with the option of additional marquees where required
•We have two great options available to us for our Saturday Night Function which we are working through to ensure we chose the best option. Car, Truck & Engine Up For Grabs at BH11: Thanks to Sony Xplod, Ford NZ, Famous Pacific Shipping and Radio Hauraki we have  purchased a 1962 Ford Thunderbird, 1952 Ford F1 pickup truck and Ford Flathead V8 Hot Rod engine! You can check them all out on our website www.beachhop.co.nz  The T-Bird will be basically left as it is apart from a Sony Xplod sound system fitted by Rapid Radio. The pickup is currently with Geno and team at Taupo Panel & Paint for a complete make-over using Spies Hecker and House of Kolor products supplied by the Smits Group. Cragar wheels will be added and some upholstery work by Mead Auto Trimmers in Matamata. Mark Stokes of M.S Vehicle Certification will ensure that it complies to NZ standards. And finally Rapid Radio will be installing the Sony Xlpod sound system. The person drawn from the Programme draw on Saturday 26th March will be able to choose between the T-Bird and pickup – whichever they don’t choose will be auctioned with a $15,000 reserve. The Ford flathead engine has alloy Offenhauser heads and twin carb intake, new carbs and water pumps etc. The engine will be given away to a BH11 vehicle entrant on Sunday 27th March at approx 12pm. The winner must be present and will have the option to take the engine or auction it on the spot and take the cash.

April 21-25 2011 Century Yuasa Batteries NZHRA Street Rod Nationals, Invercargill. Join Street Machines Southland at the 2011 event, which is limited to 500 entries. Planning for the Century Yuasa 2011 Street Rod nationalsin Invercargill are well under way. They’ll be offering a relaxed long weekend with all the usual southern hospitality. The event will be held at the Invercargill working men’s club this event centre is in a prime central location and is close to most of the accommodation offered by the Invercargill licensing trust. Coming to the nationals offers a great opportunity to carry on to the Pre ‘49 event in Wanaka about 3 hours up the road from Invercargill . And for those  NZHRA  members who may be coming to Americarna we offer, with the help of Mobil 1 and HW Richardson group secure lock up storage for your ride so you can pop back in 4 weeks time to the main event of the Century Yuasa Street Rod nationals. Entries for the nationals will be available fromwww.streetmachinessouthland.org website or NZHRA website . Entries will be posted on these sites from Labour weekend and number are limited to 500. So be in quick and remember to book your ferry crossingwith Bluebridge. For those on a tight budget well are pleased to offer accommodation at one of our local high school hostels. The price of $25 a night will be tempting to you. Details for booking will be available on the entry form along with other options. Andfor those of you who may want to breakup your trip on the way down the main land we have secured a deal with the scenic group in both Christchurch, Dunedin and also the west coast. The members of Street Machines Southland are looking forward to hosting this event with the help of Cobra Rodders from Gore and Southland Rodders also. Remember if you’re not in Invercargill at Easter time 2011 you’ll be somewhere else!
