Rodbenders 50th Anniversary at Rodbenders Clubrooms. Rod Benders’ 50th celebration is just 4 months away and it’s coming like a hopped up B4. Entries for the Labour Weekend 50th Run are out and filling fast. If you are planning on coming, get an entry form quick. At the present rate, entries may have to close before the September cut off. The weekend is based around our clubrooms, starting with the Friday “Looking Back night”, there’ll be day runs, show n shine, Saturday Social and finishing with a Champagne breakfast prize giving. The Russley Hotel has 40 rooms put aside for entrants and there are free shuttle vans for ferrying everyone around. Anyone that attended the Pre 49’s knows what sort of run we can put on. The weekend is open to all Rods, Classics and Muscle cars, after all before we went Pre 49 our wildest car was a 427 Chev powered VW!
At present we have contacted 4 out of the 5 founding members and hot on the track of the fifth. We’ve found a lot of the guys from the 60’s that pioneered the early days of the club, and quizzing them for the pit locations to dig up all that buried ‘32 stuff at present. A chance to rub shoulders with these guys and hear the stories is priceless. We are still trying to contact all former members, so if you haven’t received an information pack, please contact Greg on 0275 368 960 or Kevin on 021 189 2557
