10th Mid Winter Cruise 2015
We’ve learnt a thing or two about hosting cruises over the years but today we learnt a thing or two about winter weather! The weather forecasters threatened an Antarctic Vortex. Well it didn’t snow at the Point Cook RAAF base but it must have been close!
It didn’t deter about 50 hardened cruisers who started out from our three registration points and cruised to the Aircraft Museum located at the base. Fortunately for us all the displays are all indoors. A tour of the four hangers filled with military aircraft dating back to the birth of the RAAF was followed up with prize draws for entrants around noon. First up were the kids who completed the spotter quiz as they toured the displays. All correct answers so they were paying attention. They all received goody bags as reward.
A LGC Cruiser draw worth $500 thanks to Tyres & More Mornington put a big smile on the winners face, then we drew a number of winners in the days entrants raffle. James picked up a hamper filled with Meguairs & Liqui Moly products thanks to MotorActive. He had just subscribed as a Cruiser so was very pleased with the return on his $20 investment. With more winners found we wrapped up the visit to the museum and handed off in convoy for a short tour of a very wet Werribee South.
After returning to the Werribee CBD entrants parked and found their way to the Park Hotel in central Werribee for a warm up, a dry off, a hot lunch and a cool beverage.
Just proves that there are enough hardy cruisers prepared to get their cars wet and cruise in what turned out to be a very wintery winter’s day.
Thanks to Werribee locals Peter Koning and Gary Singline for mapping out and hosting the cruise for us all to enjoy.
