Phillip Island Classic ‘Festival of Speed’ 2009
31 intrepid cruisers left Tooradin at 9:00am for the pleasant hour cruise to Phillip Island’s Grand Prix circuit, looking forward to another great day of historic racing. At least the cruise was dry!
The heavens opened up minutes after our arrival and the dust quickly became MUD! Fortunately, the circuit’s development saw us parked right outside the new Expo building displaying around 100 muscle, race and performance cars. With a coffee shop in the corner, all was not totally lost. Rain fell until lunch time and racing finally got underway around 2pm. Despite the rain, many cruise entrants toughed it out to enjoy a tour of the pit garages, watched the racing, checked out the hundreds of great cars around the track and tested out the menus at the many food stalls.
LGC Cruisers enjoyed all this for only$5 with a free program as well. See the photos from this year’s cruise to wet your appetite for next year! Hopefully we’ll be able to offer as good a deal again and the weather will be kinder, although everyone agreed, we desperately needed the rain.
Here are a few photos from our photographer, Graeme Hutson. |
